Thaisa: The Wife Restored
First appears: Act 2, Scene 2
Thaisa appears in two phases in the play. In Act 2, she is a princess who falls in love with the unknown knight Pericles at her father's tournament and marries him against expectations.
She apparently dies in Act 3 during a storm at sea while giving birth to Marina. Her body is sealed in a chest and cast overboard. Cerimon, a physician in Ephesus, opens the chest and revives her.
She spends the intervening years as a priestess of Diana at Ephesus. When Pericles comes to the temple and describes his story, she recognises herself in it. The reunion comes at the very end of the play.
