First appears: Act 1, Scene 1

Anne Page has three suitors: Slender, chosen by her father; Doctor Caius, chosen by her mother; and Fenton, chosen by herself. She has no interest in the first two and quietly makes her own arrangements.

The final scene of the play reveals her plan. In the confusion of the fairy masque, she has guided Fenton to find her while her parents' candidates are misdirected into marrying each other by mistake.

She is a small part but her independence is absolute. In a play about women outsmarting men, she is the youngest and most decisive.
